Getting these features popular on Android and iOS devices, Microsoft was under so much pressure to bring this feature to Windows phone. So, the company brought this feature to Windows phone with Windows 10 operating system recently. Al though there are very less users on Windows 1o, and the ones that are there are not available worldwide. Recently two phones was launched by Windows, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL are expected to launch in India soon. We will discuss on this later, first let’s take a look on how you can find your lost Windows 10 laptop.

Primarily, Windows 10 was developed as a cross platform OS, so that it could work seamlessly across devices: tablets, phones, PCs and laptops. And, the tech giant first major Windows 10 upgrade brings in new features, which is evident and ‘out there’ as well as also hidden inside the OS. One of the features that many were not aware of is it’s includes enabling the ability to find your lost device: tablets and /or laptops.
As most of us aware as how to locate our lost phone, however, this new welcome addition extends this options beyond the domain of mobiles to laptops. In one even our Laptops like phones are mobile and it also has the risk to get stolen or lost. And using the trick below you can easily find it. But make a note that your laptop must be running Windows 10 OS and carrying the latest (November) build to make use of this features otherwise this trick won’t work.
Latest November build of the OS has ‘Find My Device’ utility that locates your laptop by its last location where the laptop was last used and internet was connected to your device.
When you are connected to the internet, your laptop will periodically send your current location data to the severs of Microsoft’s. “Like Find My Phone, for iOS devices, use Find My Device to find your device on a map. According to Microsoft, this free service on account.microsoft.com/devices regularly gets your laptop/tablet location so you can see it on a map,”. The company already states it in bold that it will send your data to it’s servers and use it to help you detect your device should you lose it.
Here is how you can find your lost Windows 10 laptop
— Turn on the master location setting on your laptop/tablet and using your Microsoft account signed on it.
–You need to log in as administrator.
— Go to Start, then select Settings > Update and Security > Find My Device > Enable.
After you activate that feature, your laptop/tablet will start sending your location data regularly to severs of Microsoft’s and your device’s location will be saved in the cloud server. So, now to locate your lost device is easy.
— Sign in to account.microsoft.com/devices. Here you need to log in with the same Microsoft account that you use to sign in on your lost device.
–Once logged in you will be asked to choose the device. Now select and click Find My Device.
–Here you can see a map with your device’s location. Make a note that this location will pertain to the last location where it was online. In a situation where your laptop has been stolen and set offline, the feature won’t be able to make an accurate detection.
